Understanding Steam ID Formats

Every Steam account has several IDs that all refer to the same account. Different tools and games expect different formats:

SteamID64 (e.g. 76561197960287930) - The primary format used by most modern tools, the Steam Web API, and server admin files for games like ARK, Rust, 7 Days to Die, and Valheim. This is the one you'll use most often.
SteamID (e.g. STEAM_0:0:11101) - The legacy format still used by older Source engine games (CS 1.6, TF2, GMod) and SourceMod admin configs. Also called "SteamID32" or "Steam2 ID."
SteamID3 (e.g. [U:1:22202]) - Used internally by newer Source 2 engine games and in trade offer URLs.
Account ID (e.g. 22202) - The raw account number, sometimes needed for database queries and some game APIs.

Can my Steam ID change? No - all Steam ID formats are permanent and never change, even if you change your display name, profile picture, or custom URL.

What if my profile is private? Privacy settings don't affect ID lookup. We can always resolve your ID from your profile URL or vanity name. However, some details like game info and friend lists may be hidden.

What do VAC and trade bans mean? VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) bans are permanent bans applied to accounts caught cheating. Trade bans restrict an account from trading items. Both are shown in our results when present.

Does this need an API key? The site operator needs a free Steam Web API key. If you see an error about API configuration, the key hasn't been set up yet.

Which format should I use? Use SteamID64 unless a specific tool asks for something else. It's the most widely supported format and works with virtually all modern games and services.

Is my search private? Unlike our file tools, this lookup goes through our server, which forwards only the profile URL or name you type to the Steam Web API. No files are ever uploaded, and we don't store the profiles you look up.
